Meg is the parent of three children. Kevin, age 29 has classical autism (mercury poisoned), John, age 26 and Sheila, age 21 who has ADD (mercury poisoned). Both children have improved with biomedical therapies combined with other strategies making them healthier individuals.

Quote: Observing the benefit of medical therapies helping the younger children improve or recover, inspired me to pursue similar avenues of therapy for Kevin, as an adult. He will not see total recovery, but is experiencing better health…therefore, adding to the quality of his life. My daughter is a successful college student pursing her dreams and better health. I believe we all need to be active learners to help ourselves and therefore, our families become as healthy as possible. I hop the Circle of Care can be a source of information to help educate yourselves on all aspects of healthy choices for you and your family.

Diane is the parent of two children with ASD. Nathan, age 9 with infantile autism and Logan, age 7 with PDD-NOS. Logan is now recovered.

Quote: I have seen first hand that biomedical therapies along with other strategies do improve the health and well-being of individuals with ASD spectrums. As a parent with a recovered child, the reality of recovery is real and there is hope for others.

Laura Schmitt, C.N.E.

Laura is a Certified Nutrition educator trained in the principles of holistic nutrition. With challenging family food in tolerances, Laura has become an expert on preparing healthy low allergen meals as well as an advocate for autism diets.

Laura is a published author and a public speaker on nutrition with a special emphasis on dietary restrictions and eating for health. In 2006, Laura launched the online informational website, www.GlutenAndDairyFree.com, in hopes to help other parents find safe food ideas to promote health while on a restricted diet.

Laura joins the Spinal Corrective Center, P.C., as a nutritional educator to help individuals create unique meal plans geared toward their specific tastes, needs and time constraints. When asked about her involvement as a board member for Circle of Care, Laura expressed, “I am very excited that our community will have a single location to gather a collective of information that can otherwise be difficult for parents to find. This will help parents support their families with methods that they may not know even existed. I would have been elated to have so much information at my finger tips early in my parenting journey, and I am ecstatic to be a part of the process that provides that information to everyone in Eastern Central Iowa.”
